Well supported race
By Mike Staudinger on June 20, 2024
Flying Pig is a great half marathon, well supported by the entire Cincinnati community. this is a very large race and you want to be farther up in the corrals to beat the heat and humidity of the day. There is a 4ish mile long hill from about 3 miles to 7 but then downhill and level to the finish. Drink lots of water, the humidity is no joke.

Outstanding race
By Mike Staudinger on May 15, 2024
Other than the horrible humidity, this was an outstanding race. Well organized and easy to access the start (plenty of reasonably priced parking). be aware that there is a long hill at about mile 3.5 thru 8 that just keeps going and going. Expo was huge (too big to go through in one day)

Well Organized but Hilly

Great crowd support. Frequent aid stations (wish they were not on both side of the street). Good bling. Mostly uphill for the first 8 miles.

Great Experience

Flying Pig is definitely one of the best supported runs I have run. Crowd support throughout the run, plenty of water stops and a scenic views from start to finish..

Tons of Fun!
By Sheila Finney on May 6, 2024
The race was a lot of fun and the expo was HUGE! Asics is the official gear/shoe sponsor, so the shirts are all Asics and they had an enormous apparel and gear area at the expo. To me the long climb to Eden Park and the overlook wasn't as bad as I was expecting and the view from the top was amazing! The run back down the hill was FAST!!! I think that was my fastest mile split from any half I've ever done. When people say there is community support the entire way, they're not joking. It felt like there were spectators lining the course for almost the entire 13.1 miles and they were all handing out different things (mini chocolates, gummies, licorice, starburst, coconut water, soda, beer, high fives), it really was a lot of fun and the energy made it easy to keep going.

Awesome event

Lots of hills but the fan support and after party are great. A must do.

Impeccably organized race weekend
By Jen Keutzer on June 5, 2019
I came from out of state to run this race after hearing all of the hype. I signed up for the 3-way with cheese, which was a 1 mile, 10k, 5k, and Half. I got shirts for all events (tech only for the Half), finisher's medals for all events, a challenge shirt and a challenge medal. People running the Half and Full got a premium gift -- this year, a collapsible cooler. The Expo was HUGE and took a lot of time to get through. The races were very well organized, with volunteers everywhere. The website felt overwhelming, but the emails prior to the race had just the information I wanted. My only post-race concern: they moved all of the expo vendors to the post-race party, so you had to wade through the same people selling the same stuff as the expo to find the beer tent. I'll be back!

Fun Race with Plenty of Community Support
By Kathy Beifuss on May 13, 2019
I really enjoyed this race in spite of the big hill up to the park. The community support was great with themed aid stations and and music along the way. The route was very scenic with a good look at the downtown area and beyond.

Flying Pig Marathon
By Penny Kilmon on May 13, 2019
Best expo I have everseen and great swag. Well supported in the community. Both races split off after the climb to a gorgeous view....worth the climb. It is a crowded field. Majority of the field is the half. Theme is carried out at the water stations, in town and energetic crowd. It helped with all the hills. If you don't train on hills you will regret it. Not a typical PR course but I would do it again. But I would likely do the half vs the full. Most challenging full I ever ran but proud to say I crossed the finish "swine". And kudos to the man shaking everyone's hand and congratulating them as we crossed. Classy touch!!!!

Loved racing the Pig!
By Jennifer Rettammel on May 13, 2019
This was my first Flying Pig, but definitely not my last, I'm already signed up for next year! This race was way beyond my expectations!!! I still can't get over how much swag we received, it just kept coming and coming! The crowd support was incredible, reminded me of the support of NYC or Chicago.

Flying Pig out sweaks them
By Andrew Barton on May 12, 2019
If you like bling, you like this race. If you like swag, you love this race. If you like big expos and post race parties, come fly with the pig. Like baseball? Squeeze in a game. Its like a national holiday in Cincinnati, everyone in the community gears up for this event. It is well worth the trip form everywhere. I can't find anything to complain about and certainly no reason to stay away. On my "To DO Again" list.

Lived up to the hype!
By Jenni Seibel on May 12, 2019
I feared this race would not be as great as everyone said it would be, but I was wrong. People said it was hilly - it compared to San Francisco in terms of hills! People said the course support was amazing - check! Organized. Great swag. Don't hesitate to sign up!

Flying pig awesome
By WANDA SHOEMAKE on May 12, 2019
This race is a big race. Lots of crowd support. Lots of fun. Only thing is that 1 Hull on that elevation map is really hills thru out the race. Rolling hills over bridges the first 5 miles then a never ending hill up that mountain park. Then the race is on! Down hill last 3 miles. So much fun though and the after party is awesome. Medal is awesome. A must do race.

Great expo, organization and crowd support. Everyone needs to run this once!
Be sure to drive the course so you know when to expect the hills.

What a Great Race!!!!
By Dianne Day on May 12, 2019
Start out running across the Ohio River into Kentucky. There's a section about 2 to 2 1/2 miles long that's predominantly up hill with a net gain up probably 200-300 feet, but the view once you fight up it is so pretty. The remaining 19 miles are so are much easier. There were 25 water stops!!! No reason to dehydrate, as they all offered both water and gatorade. The crowd support was phenomenal! Elvis sang, bagpipes played, boomboxes blasted, families cheered, and signs encouraged anytime you felt like you might want to give up,. And food/fuel? Sure they had the normal gels, but so much more. Chocolates and pringles and oranges and bananas and BACON and pretzels and cookies and gummies and more than I can remember!!! I've said many times I wouldn't run the same Marathon twice because there are soooooo many to choose from, but I would run the Flying Pig twice! Maybe more. The whole weekend was such a great experience from start to finish! Fly, piggies, fly!! :-)
