Fun! Fun! Fun!
By Jim Fisher on May 4, 2016
This is definitely one of my top ten marathons. I have run a marathon in all 50 states and Flying Pig was my 215th marathon. Great crowd support. great aid stations. Great community support. They even had bacon at two of the aid stations. It got really hot this year and the cold towels at mile 20 were much appreciated. The expo was fun and well organized. The post-race party was a lot of fun. It's in a park down by the river which meant that we had a lot of space to spread out and enjoy the afternoon.
The course is definitely hilly so do not plan on a P.R. there, but it was a well-planned course.

Flying Pig - Too Much Fun!
By Dennis 'Keep Running Fatboy' Ley on January 15, 2016
Fun course. Starts outside the Bengals stadium, Finishes next to the Reds stadium. Hills, Bridges, and a very enthusiastic group of volunteers and community supporters. Lots of post race food choices. Drawback might have been race day parking, but with planning and early arrival this isnt a big deal. My favorite marathon I have ever run.

Flying Pig!
By Andrew Wetterer on January 12, 2016
Flying Pig is a fantastic Marathon with great crowd support. There are a lot of hills, but you'll conquer them easily. Don't be scared of the people dressed up as pigs; they're there to cheer you on. Most of the different Cincinnati neighborhoods throw parties to celebrate the runners so there is always fun to be had. Mile 18-22 can get a little rough as the crowd thins out here and you run on a non closed road, briefly. If you're up for a challenge, you can do their 3 way or 4 way - 5k, 10k, half or full marathons on consecutive days.

Flying Pig Marathon

The most fun I’ve had in years! Big marathon with a small town feel.

It was a hot one
By Deadsygurll on May 13, 2024
I did not know that we were in red flag conditions for heat until I pulled out my phone to take a picture and noticed that it was sent 30 minutes before. No one at the aid stations mentioned this to runners on course. I will say that outside of this the race support was wonderful and they had medical bike personel up and down the course in full force to support struggling runners. I just wish I had been verbally told about red flag so that I could have adjusted pace earlier.

Great race, very well organized. They did a wonderful job making sure all the runners were well hydrated and options to stay cool in the heat and humidity!
Always great medals and swag!

Best Organized/Great Crowd Support
By Christopher Browning on May 6, 2024
This was probably my favorite race so far. It was very well organized and the crowd support was present throughout the whole course. The course is a little hilly from mile 6 - 12 but then levels out for the most part after that. There were water stops at every mile. The crowd was amazing! They were handing out popsicles, candy, cookies, tequila, fireball and even bacon! The temperature was a little more hot and humid than what is normal but it was still a great race. Definitely put this race on your calendar.

Flying Pig lives up to it's hype!
By Chrissy Yamada on May 5, 2024
This was my first time running The Flying Pig and it definitely lived up to it's hype! The expo had great swag including P&G free samples. The Marathon, t-shirt, poster and logo brand duffle bag were all better than what you get when you run other races. The course was a bit hilly but they were early in the race. The spectators were the best, always handing out snacks, fruit, water and hosing you down due to the heat. There were two GU stops which were really needed at miles 18 and 21. The post race celebration continued past the finish line into the Park (Ohio side) where we could sit and relax. It was hot and humid but we made it to the finish line and got a big and heavy medal!

Well worth Your Time

Amazing race!
By Sameer Khurana on May 14, 2023
Flying Pig is one of the best races in US with amazing crowd support, friendly volunteers, great expo and overall the whole experience. I ran in 2023 with really bad thunderstorm weather and inspite of that had a terrific time on the course. It's a must do if you are planning to run one in OH or in all 50 states!

Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon
By Lou Kneeshaw on May 14, 2023
Well organized race, starting corrals based on pace, plenty of water stations, GU on the course, excellent volunteers, nice swag such as a back pack and race belt, nice finishers medal. Challenging course with plenty of hills but plenty of spectators throughout the course.

One of the BEST of the large marathons
By Michael Head on June 25, 2017
Excellent expo, organization, swag, pre-race restroom area in the stadium, post-race food & party & booths and spectator support. The start-line corrals were organized superbly and, possibly other than Walt Disney World, the best overall of the high-attendance marathons I've run. Very hilly in the first 10 miles ... don't expect a PR unless you blast down some of the long hills. Runner tracking left a little to be desired ... confusing website for setup. Also, the Finish Line is about a half-mile from recommended parking near the Starting corrals ... can be good to walk off the soreness, or hell-to-pay if you're blistered and just want to soak in some ice back at the hotel. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Awesome experience!

With a name like the Flying Pig Marathon, you can't go wrong! The Flying Pig theme permeates all aspects of the event. The organization of the event and the layout of the course are done professionally. They have taken great care to ensure a family friendly event. I participated in the 4-Way Challenge with extra cheese this year. That consisted of a 1-mile race Friday night followed by a 10K and a 5k on Saturday and the full marathon on Sunday. The price for all four races was extremely reasonable and the swag was outstanding. The only down side was the design of the shirts. I didn't care for the pig emoji on all the shirts. The shirt for the 1-miler and the overall challenge had a nice design. After the race, there was a great after party in the park.

Flying Pig
By Mike Westermeier on May 20, 2017
I flew into Cinci to surprise my nephew who I had talked into running marathons a few years earlier and I wanted to run the Pig for my marathon in Ohio.

As to the marathon weekend, everything was first class, online registration was easy and their website is ok, they do have an app you can download with race information and you can set it up for text updates. The expo seemed above average, it is at a convention center in downtown Cinci, one of the race sponsors is Proctor & Gamble and they were giving away samples. It was a longer line so I skipped it. For swag, they provided a marathon poster, a race shirt (not a finishers shirt) and a backpack. I like the fit of the shirt but the emoji's of Flying Pigs, well not my style.

As to the marathon, a really nice course, hills around mile 6 to 11 but manageable, some hills later but nothing too bad. Volunteers, police (traffic control), water stops all were great. The finish area was easy to navigate and I love the finisher medal.

Love the Pig

This race never disappoints. Fans great. City so great to all runners. Expo great. Tough course but this race is all about having fun and being appreciated for what we train so hard to do.

Great Race All Around
By Lauchlin MacGregor on May 14, 2017
The Flying Pig is my hometown race, so I have some bias. (disclaimer) Participation is always high, as Cincinnati is a large racing city.

This is a tough course, with a long, drawn out elevation rise early on (around mile 6) before the half splits off. Once the half splits, you end up going through some long drawn out rolling hills which aren't too bad. Once you get through those, you enter the town of Mariemount, which has a large support base and is fairly flat. You then make the turn for home, which is lengthy and out in the open (strong sun can be a problem here). Entering it's 20th year next year, this should be on everyone's to-do race. The whole weekend is incredibly fun.

Home town race

Always one of my favorite races. Weather for the 2017 was awessome. Minor course changes made it a better course in my opinioin.

Eat hills for breakfast at the Flying Pig
By Crystal Shinosky on May 14, 2017
I've run the Flying Pig marathon twice now and I absolutely love this race.
The expo is great, with lots of vendors and giveaways. The race is well organized and has nice swag. I ran the 4-way Chili challenge one year and just the marathon this year and enjoyed myself both times. The course is hilly, with the majority of the hills in the first 13 miles but don't expect it to be flat after that. It's still one of my favorite courses, the downhills are great and the route is beautiful. You go through neighborhoods and the residents are out cheering and having parties. It's well supported by the community. There are plenty of Gatorade and water stations along the course. There wet towel stations, gu stations, sunscreen stations, bathrooms and even bacon stations on the course. The post-race festivities are fun too, with there are vendors, music, food and beer in a beautiful green space within the city.

Flying Pig, lots of fune.
By Amador "Slorunner" Nunez on May 14, 2017
I completed the 4 way with cheese challenge. What great support from the community. Very hilly course but the weather was great to complete a marathon. Plenty of food and drinks at the end of the race. Medal was nice, however the shirt as nothing to brag about.

Run the Pig
By Mark "Kiltman" Regensburger on March 23, 2017
My hometown race. I've run a pig event every year since 2010. My first marathon. Some hills make it challenging. Great crowd and course support. A very fun race.

Excellent and Fun Marathon!!
By Patty Powell on May 4, 2016
This is an awesome marathon! It is hilly, and the humidity made it even tougher, but Cincinnati goes all out for this event!! The pig theme is carried out everywhere!! The volunteers are amazing, great organization, (there are water stops every mile - each one with a different treat for the runners), crowd support everywhere, and the medal is really cool! It is a 26.2 mile party. Loved it and highly recommend it!!
