Beautiful, well organized race @ 6,300 feet!
By Carrie McNish on September 6, 2016
This is a small race the begins in the center of town in Jackson Hole, WY. The organization of the race is outstanding. The volunteers were plentiful and amazing. The course was a paved 'bike/running' path throughout the surrounding area. The elevation was brutal (if you're not used to it). I believe the course is at about 6,200 feet. If you struggle in elevation as I do, you may not like this. The gain throughout the whole course was about 615 feet, and the loss was about 539 feet. The course is a slow and gradual climb from mile 9. It's unnoticeable, but if you're not acclimated, you will feel it in your breathing. I really love the beauty of these elevation states, however, this is a difficult course based on altitude alone.

Beautiful Location

The course is well paved and I enjoyed seeing moose at mile 6. Started will cool temps then reached 80 by the end. A wildfire nearby caused poor air quality and blocked the view of the mountains but overall this was a great race.

Jackson Hole is gorgeous

Excellently organized. Gorgeous scenery. The altitude was challenging (6150 feet at the start) for us because we aren’t used to it but the course wasn’t too hilly. Maybe 550 feet of gain and another 500 feet of loss.

Tough weather day on top of a tough course
By Todd Oliver on October 4, 2020
The beauty of the Tetons was overshadowed by rain, 20+ mph headwinds and cold. The course is okay with nice views but the 16 miles of uphill to get to the finish was a challenge. Loved the area and RD is very nice but would think twice on running it again.

Beautiful course!!

Was nice to be back at it finally. Race was low key due to Covid, but knew that walking in.
I highly recommend Jacksonhole, go in early to get accustomed to the elevation. Course is elevation to elevation so be prepared.

Great race

Runners need to respect the altitude and set their pace for success. The bike paths were nice. Saw moose tracks. Spectators can see racers easily. Jackson is beautiful. Loved my age group winner prize!

Aweome race
By John Colvard on September 10, 2018
This was a well run and race with a great course most only bike paths so little traffic interaction. The last half had incredible views of the Grand Tetons. I had some resistance to this race because of the no cup policy. I still have a little irritation about that so one extra star dinged on the event. This is a high altitude race at 6200'. It was a good racecation match with Bozeman marathon the weekend after and vacation in Yellowstone National Park in between. Housing is incredibly expense here.

ALTITUDE!!! absolutely gorgeous views, organized
By Jacqueline Evans on September 9, 2018
Loved everything about it. Expo low key in host hotel, T-shirt nice, medal spectacular. wish host hotel served early breakfast for runners. Course absolutely gorgeous, with views of Tetons, but altitude was difficult at 6300 ft from mile 10 on. Great aid stations with gel at a few. Volunteers and race director were terrific. website was so informative. Spend few days around the race to visit Yellowstone, Tetons, and quaint town of Jackson. Finish line was a little uphill grass patch with a spectacular view of the gondola & Jackson Hole ski resort as a backdrop (even with a little snow). The weather was perfect for us. A must run in Wyoming. The shortness of breath from the altitude was so worth it. Thanks for a memorable 50th state completion.

Beautiful Course!
By Sheri Nemeth on September 8, 2018
This is a nice, marathon in a beautiful location. The majority of the course is on a paved bike trail and is surprisingly flat (my watch showed 400' elevation gain) for a run in the mountains. Lots of good views along the course and they do a nice job with water stops. This is a point to point run that starts downtown Jackson and finishes at Grand Teton Village. The only challenge for some us flat landers is the 6600' elevation. Lots of great hiking, biking, rafting in the area which makes it a great family destination. Also loved the finisher medals (replicated antler arch in Jackson) and awards - painted tiles depicting the Tetons.

Great Race! Beautiful, scenic, primarily-blacktop bike trails.
This race had excellent support and well-organized.
Great destination race and on a holiday weekend.

MUST DO race!
By Aaron Braunstein on September 3, 2017
One of the most scenic marathons I have ever done! The race is run at 6300 feet, the overall elevation gain and loss is only 1100 feet, most of the downhill coming in the first half, most of the uphill coming after miles 10–11 . The expo is very low-key, it was held at the Spring Hill suites Marriott. I helped to volunteer at the expo. Super organized, crystal clear instructions about pre and post race logistics.

This year was different as they went cupless, a key feature in most ultramarathons. There were jugs filled with water and Powerade at each aid station, just taking a few seconds to fill up, and be on your way. The medal was one of the best I've ever seen, the post race amenities were perfect. And the scenery? To be able to view the snake river and the mountains, all along the course was spectacular, to say the least. I highly recommend this race for anyone who wants a beautiful course, as well as any 50 stater that needs to knock off wyoming.
