This was an excellent event !! It has approximately 8,000 runners with a 1/2 and Full event - the course is very scenic and easy. A net downhill course, would be an option for Boston Qualifier. The course support was well space with several locations with spectator provide food as well. There were 3 first aid tent with full race support items including bio-freeze. There were a large number of course support people on bikes providing limited items including bio-freeze. I can't remember a race with as good of support. Very scenic course, quaint small town finish. Although the history and glory of running NYC Marathon is always going to be on a bucket list, I can easily see why many had thought this was the second best race in NY. I consider it to be the best overall marathon in NY in terms of course and logistics. This was my 50th State and I am very satisfied I chose it.

This race is everything a marathon should be. Great organization, terrific local support and a great course. The organizers have really put together a great event and they do all the little things right. Things I like about this race: plentiful free parking right near the bus loading area, lots of volunteers directing traffic, excellent expo, point-to-point race with half-marathon at separate starting point, really good food after the race (pizza, hot soup, bagels, etc), cool medal, downhill course through small towns and a really nice long-sleeve shirt. My hot tip for the race - when you get off the bus at the start, go right to the maintenance shed and grab a chair next the large heater. The tent right next to the start gets crowded, but there is plenty of room in the large building just a few hundred yards away. Corning is a really nice little town, so give yourself time to tour the glass museum. There are also lots of good bars and restaurants if you stick around town.

Beautiful and well organized Marathon

I ran the Wineglass marathon in October 2023, this is currently my PR marathon. I received a nice quarter zip top (ladies fit) a wineglass and small bottle of sparkling wine. The expo was small, but they had some nice things to buy. They provided a half off entry to the museum of glass to use anytime that weekend and I went the day after the race. I highly recommend going, it was very interesting, and I even got a free handblown glass bowl! It was a very well-organized race. There were nice tents to keep warm at the start and it was an absolutely beautiful course. The weather did get very warm by the end, but they had plenty of water and electrolytes available. The post-race food was good also. The medal is made of glass and it very unique. I loved the town of Corning too. Would definitely do this race again.

Pros: Race expo was great and swag was very nice. Nice long sleeve zip, beautiful glass and Champagne bottle. Busses to start were good. Course was marked very well and volunteers were amazing. Corning is such a nice place to visit.
Cons: Race started at 8:15 which to me is to late. Not enough water stops in first half of race.

Fast Course!

I was hoping to get a BQ time and this course did not disappoint! I beat my PR by nearly 5 minutes. Very flat and fast. Not a whole lot of spectators and not overly scenic, but the swag is great!

Fantastic race. They certainly paid attention to all the details, even a heated tent at the start line for all those freezing bodies. Gotta love the swag - chocolates and champagne! Meb was the guest speaker the night before the race and he was inspirational, funny and a great guy. I'd run it again.

This was my 50th state finish. I am from NY and choose this because of the location. The race is mostly flat. Sadly it's very boring. There can be nice views along the course, especially if you're not used to seeing the leaves changing colors.
The expo is held at the Corning museum of glass, where you can purchase a discounted ticket and tour (optional) and/or you can do a glass blowing option. During this time of year they offer a pumpkin they do sell out quickly so if this is something you want you must pick a time and sign up. It was a lot of fun and I'm GLAD that I did this.
It's a nice experience, but not a marathon that I would want to repeat!

Super organized race from race transportation, to expo, to shirt exchange, to the actual race. Felt like a much bigger race than the 1500 or so that participated because it was so well run.
The course was as advertised and can see why BQ'ers would like this race.
Stayed at the finish line city, Corning, and what a great town. So much within walking distance made it really easy to be there with no rental car or needing to Uber.
A little tough to get to if you live outside of driving distance but worth it.

Nice course, small but fun expo. Sunday event means everyone leaves town after the race.

Super Scenic Run in Upstate New York

Wineglass is a very nice mid-size race through the scenic rolling terrain of upstate New York. Very well organized with tremendous volunteers from the Expo, bus transportation, and all of the aid stations too. The Corning Museum of Glass and Corning Community College are interesting places to visit and there are a wide array of dining options before and after. Highly recommended !!!
