This race had it all! A great course through neighborhoods and walking paths, small expo with all you need, superb logistics, yummy post-race pancakes, massages, and a never-thirsty beer garden! All still available when the slowest racer finishes! Plenty of porta-potties and helpful aid station attendants. Lots of Gatorade on the course but it was mysteriously missing from the finish line. Carmel is a perfect location for a mid size race such at this. The Monon bike/walking path gets you thru town and access to all the fun spots. If I weren’t on a mission to get all 50, I’d go back and do it again. A wonderful weekend.

I've raced this 3 times and love it every time. It is an 'almost' flat and fast course. I ran a BQ time on this course. This year there was a bit of road construction around the start that caused some congestion. It is well supported and very organized.

The race was great! The only criticism is the map with parking ( give address )
I would have liked to have participated in the beer/pancakes... but as a slower runner, the tents were all coming down by the time I finished.
The volunteers were AWESOME! The Police security was AWESOME! I really enjoyed the town, race, atmosphere (as much as there can be with COVID).

Two Thumbs Up

Carmel Mararathon was my first live marathon during COVID-19 era. The race organizers did an excellent job making this event a reality and giving runners an opportunity to race after a long drought. The race expo and packet pickup took place outdoors the day before the race and wasn't crowded. The race itself felt almost like pre-covid races with the exception being that runners wore masks in the starting area and had to pick up the cups from the tables at the water stops instead of having volunteers hand them out. But otherwise it was very much a real race. The weather at the start was in the 40's, perfect for racing. It warmed up a bit, but the wind was relentless and the course wasn't as flat as I was led to believe from race description but not terribly hilly. I highly recommend this race and may come back again.

Carmel IN marathon 2019

As the 6:30 pacer, i was happy the race officials did not sweep those behind me. The weather was horrible but had it not been raining, the temperature was perfect. 610ft of elevation, rolling hills but plenty of them, none too memorable. 2 unique loops but the second loop goes right by the half finish. There is absolutely nothing (no fuel) provided on the course except water and gatorade and due to the course. People were very nice. Town was cute. Far from the airport so rent a car.

2019 Carmel Marathon

This was my first marathon to run in the rain. It was pouring at the start and rained off and on throughout the course. Knowing the weather forcast for rain and after doing some research, I learned that a coating of vasoline on the feet and between the toes will help to avoid blisters in wet shoes, and the trick worked great! It was a good course with great volunteers.

Good Experience

The course was well staffed with support.
I enjoyed the course, it was mostly flat. Run through some nice residential areas. Where families were out cheering us on.

The weather could have been a little warmer but what do you expect from a early spring race? Great flat course, the only thing I would change would be to start the half marathon later, way to congested at the start of the race.

Carmel Marathon

It was a very windy marathon. The volunteers were great!!!
Two problems that a lot of us had was at several water points the water was being taken out of a fire hydrant and passed on to everyone. It was some of the awful tasting water that I have ever tasted. 2nd problem was the RD did not have any food on the course, not even an orange. He stated to me that they did not serve any food, because it caused to much mess. I told him that the 6 hour+ guy's needed some type food. I told him it was hard to carry oranges and banana's, and he said you have done a lot of marathons and should be able to take care of yourself. We will not be doing Carmel again!!!

Super flat and fast

I had every opportunity to PR or even BQ at this event but I let myself go out to fast on this course. The event was well supported. Only thing negative I could say is that it isn't very scenic. A lot of running through the neighborhoods and side roads but otherwise I really liked it.

Typical smaller marathon

Support was good and the race was scenic for the Indianapolis area. I wouldn't describe the course as very flat but more rolling. The 1/2 and the full started at the same time.
