Hilly buy not Horrible
By David Pasquale on October 27, 2019
3rd time running Yonkers. It is the 2nd oldest marathon but the crowd support is sparse and overall participation from runners has waned. The city took over the marathon in 2018 or 2019. Overall support from volunteers and the Police is now awesome. Pre-race and race day bib pick-up offered. Parking was free at a garage a block away. Very easy. Numerous water stations. No gels on the course so bring your own. Course was well marked and staffed but you are running in one of NY's largest cities and unlike the NYC Marathon the streets are not shut down for the Yonkers Marathon. So you have to be careful when running and watch where you are running. Police were awesome. My car key was attached to my bib and fell out on the course. Two Police officers met me at my car after the race and opened my door. So nice of them. Weather was perfect for running - a great Fall day. Plan to run again next year. And yes - it's Yonkers - the course is hilly!

Yonkers - 2nd Oldest and 1 of the Best
By David Pasquale on September 21, 2025
Yonkers never fails to deliver. The race management has changed several times over the years but the City of Yonkers took it over 4 or 5 years ago and never looked back. They run a great race with tons of support along the way. Rumors about the hills are all true - it is very hilly. There are partial road closures not full. Instead of large cheering sections along the way you have passing cars and a vibrant city to distract. Getting in and out of the race, parking, packet pick-up etc. could not be any easier.
