Favorite Course
By Bonnie Page on July 1, 2018
I’ve run the full Marathon twice and the Half once. I have achieved a new PR each time I’ve run it. The course is extremely scenic, with a few small rolling hills and one bigger hill. The Northern Michigan location makes it more likely it will be comfortable weather for June. It is a smaller Marathon but very well organized with lots of community support. Love being able to walk to the start and walk back from the finish. Don’t expect lots of spectators, but the one that do show up are enthusiastic. We will continue to run this race for years to come.

Nice, somewhat boring race in a hard to reach area
By Seth "Fun Fact" Kramer on June 29, 2019
13.1 miles out, and 13.1 back. About mile 7 you get a view of Lake Michigan. It's pretty, but at some point it becomes a bit monotonous. The biggest problem with this race is that there are no easy airports nearby. I wound up flying into Detroit and doing a 4 hour drive up to the city through the night. If you take a day off to do this race (it's on a Saturday) then you can expect hotels to be quite spendy. Keep this in mind.

Charlevoix is great!

Second time I've run Charlevoix and hope it's not my last. Long drive from Georgia but well worth it. Small town, great support, beautiful and fast course... I highly recommend this race!

Charlevoix Marathon

Very nice out and back course through Charlevoix and along Little Traverse Bay. This a a small marathon with only around 300 runners. It's well organized, started on time, plenty of water stations, and even a bacon station. This is the second time I've run this and I'd highly recommend it.

Excellent out and back course

Super volunteers, well-stocked aid stations, flexible and friendly registration- on site day of if needed too, a little pricey, nice awards and small field size and a beautiful downtown small-town venue.

Lovely course, town and time of year.
Race Director was helpful.
Very poor footing on bike path and boardwalks. My friend and I both tripped and fell.
